2009 was a crazy time, right? Avatar, Terminator Salvation, the Clash of the Titans remake - for a minute there, it looked like Sam Worthington might very well become a huge star. But while Avatar was obviously an embarassingly massive success, damning us all to see every subsequent movie in 3D and eventually shell out for some stupid glasses of our own to wear at home, things didn't really pan out for Worthington because, well, his other movies sucked and he was kind of lousy in them.

But, hey! Let's not get negative. Worthington is already locked down for two Avatar sequels, and if James Cameron sees something in him, then there must be something worth investing in. I mean, the guy made the GOOD Terminator movies for crying out loud - except for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, of course, that was Jonathan Mostow. Luckily it looks like we'll all have another chance to give Worthington another shot, as Deadline is reporting that he's attached to a new oxymoronic "grounded space war" project.

Deadline reports that Warner Bros has closed on a deal for the pitch written by relative newcomer Aaron Guzikowski, and produced by Clash of the Titans' Basil Iwanyk. No real details on the contents of the film, but we've got a hunch Worthington will play a battle-hardened space marine who has to choose between victory and "what really matters."
